Eligibility

To be eligible for national SAA recognition, aspiring SAA Chapters must be approved for operation at their designated university campus by the appropriate university office in accordance with university policy. The designated university must have an AuD, PhD, or AuD/PhD program and be accredited by or in developing status with the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE) and/or the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA).

Starting a SAA Chapter

Did you know only nationally recognized SAA Chapters can use the registered SAA name and trademarks? They are also eligible for chapter funding opportunities administered by the national SAA and its philanthropic partner, the American Academy of Audiology Foundation.

If your program is interested in starting a chapter or has a local SAA chapter that needs to complete paperwork to become nationally recognized, download the chapter application form and chapter bylaws template. Email completed documentation to saa@audiology.org. A response will be received within five business days regarding the documentation.

Once national SAA recognition has been granted, SAA Chapters will be asked to review and sign the national SAA Agreement. Agreements are reviewed on a biennial basis as part of the annual national SAA Chapter Renewal process.
