After being motivated to help advocate for and donate to the Black Lives Matter movement, the Wayne State University (WSU) Chapter of SAA has been hard at work this summer fundraising for an organization called Detroit Impact. Detroit Impact is a non-profit organization that serves Detroit’s west-side communities. They strive to provide leadership and crisis management for the community, as well as vital outlets for their youth, including recreational activities, tutoring, and improved access to technology and literacy. The students of WSU SAA designed and sold shirts for the fundraiser, raising over $1,200 dollars. They plan to continue donating throughout the year with money raised from other planned fundraisers.
