I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as the new National SAA Advisor, as well as the Chair of the SAA Advisory Committee. My name is Kate Marchelletta. I am a graduate of Indiana University and have been working with the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit since completing my externship 7 years ago. In 2011, through an affiliation agreement with Wayne State University, I became the coordinator of the on-campus audiology clinic at Wayne State. I have also served as an adjunct faculty member at Wayne State. I have been Wayne State's local SAA chapter advisor since its inception in 2012, which is ultimately what lead me to apply for the national advisor position. I feel mentoring the future leaders of our profession is such an important part of our responsibilities to our profession and I love to see future colleagues become excited about what they can do to move our profession forward! As a member of the Michigan Academy of Audiology's executive board for the past 6 years, I have also chaired the planning committee for the Michigan Student Leaders in Audiology Meeting. The meeting serves to excite and educate students who have shown interest or potential as future leaders of our profession.
I truly look forward to working with all of you and want you to contact me at any time with any questions, concerns, and/or suggestions you may have to help SAA function more efficiently or that can help you succeed as a local chapter advisor. Don’t forget to check out the SAA Advisors Community page for ideas and news. Check it out soon for an up-to-date chapter information packet in the very near future!
