What is a Personal Statement?
Most programs will ask for a personal statement. This should be a one- to two-page document in which you talk about yourself, your clinical interests, the reason you want to be an audiologist, and why you are interested in a particular graduate program. This is not only your chance to shine, but also to reflect on how you have gotten to this point in your education and what your future goals are. Graduate school applications include many components, such as your GRE score, transcripts, and letters of recommendation. These areas list and describe relevant accomplishments and experiences, but the personal statement is an opportunity to address the committee using your own voice.
