Utah State University: Humanitarians in Costa Rica, Hosting “Here We Glow” 5K in Utah
The Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) at Utah State University in Logan, UT, is off to a strong start in meeting their philanthropic and humanitarian goals. USU SAA will host a 5K night run, Here We Glow, and a golf tournament on September 21 to provide hearing aids for a child in their community. These events will also help to fund the chapters annual humanitarian mission. Last year, USU SAA completed a mission trip to Costa Rica where they conducted hearing screenings and fitted hearing aids at schools and assistive living communities. Hearing aids were donated by the Starkey Hearing Foundation. UTU SAA notes that, [The mission trip] was a very rewarding experience for all involved and we hope to have similar experiences this year. USU SAA will also continue their annual tradition of providing hearing screenings for athletes at Utahs state Special Olympics games.
In addition to USU SAAs humanitarian work, this chapter hopes that all of their AuD students will attend AudiologyNOW! in Anaheim, CA, in April 2013. They note, We want each of the AuD students here at Utah State University to benefit from gaining the experience of attending the conference and to be exposed to the professionals, companies and cutting edge research currently being done in the field of Audiology.
The National SAA looks forward to seeing Utah State University SAA at AudiologyNOW! and to hearing about their progress over the next year.
