SAA Committee Member Spotlight: Megan Ryan
Name: Megan Ryan
University: University of Connecticut
Year in program: Fourth Year
Committee: Media Committee
1. Why did you decide to become an SAA Committee Volunteer?
While preparing to leave campus and begin my fourth year clinical placement, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to participate with my university’s SAA chapter as closely as I was used to. I came across the opportunity to be involved with national SAA and thought it was the perfect chance to ensure continued involvement in the student community.
2. What do your responsibilities include within your committee?
Most of my responsibilities involve the SAAy Anything e-newsletter. I gather various articles including chapter chatter submissions, SAA committee member spotlights and articles written by the SAA Board of Directors, and prepare them for editing by the media committee. As a whole, the media committee also stays busy with other online and social media projects.
3. Within the profession of Audiology, what are your primary interests?
Although I enjoy a mixture of populations and services, pediatrics and cochlear implants are definitely my primary interests. I am currently completing my fourth year placement at an ENT placement and am pleased to be staying full-time after graduation as one of the cochlear implant audiologists!
