University at Buffalo Partners with Dr. Ann Stadelmaier Hearing Aid Fund

May 08, 2017 Chapter Chatter

The University at Buffalo Student Academy of Audiology is active in community service efforts, government relations, and hearing health awareness campaigns. Our chapter is currently partnering with the Dr. Ann Stadelmaier Hearing Aid Fund, founded by Hearing Evaluation Services of Buffalo, in order to raise awareness of hearing healthcare and SAA. Dr. Stadelmaier was a local audiologist and a Kenmore Lion, committed to helping individuals with hearing loss obtain hearing aids regardless of their financial circumstances. Upon her passing in 2006, this fund was created to honor her legacy and to continue to provide affordable hearing aids to those in financial need. The fund has been generously supported by over 30 local Lions Clubs and has helped over 140 individuals in Western New York receive the gift of hearing. We will be hosting our annual charity pasta dinner in late March of 2017. The charity dinner attracts family members, friends, clinical and academic faculty, local audiologists and otolaryngologists and other community members. Funds will be raised through ticket sales and a basket raffle. This year, we raised a total of $1,063 that was split between the Dr. Ann Stadelmaier Hearing Aid Fund and the University at Buffalo SAA chapter. This event is our chapter’s largest humanitarian event of the year, and we are honored to be a part of it!
