University of Cincinnati Gives Back to Community and Beyond

January 16, 2019 Chapter Chatter

On Thanksgiving Day (2018), the University of Cincinnati's SAA members got into the holiday spirit by volunteering at Duke Energy’s Fall Feast. At this event, low income members of the Cincinnati community an opportunity to receive a Thanksgiving meal, a winter coat, haircuts, and medical screenings, free of cost! Accompanied by Dr. Brian Earl and his family, SAA members provided over 70 free hearing screenings, and gave out over 300 pairs of hearing protection. It was an incredible event for both our SAA and community members to attend.

On Thursday October 11 and Friday October 12, seven of our SAA members including Dr. Bob Keith and Dr. John Clark served over 64 patients at the Red Bird Hearing Clinic. They fit ten patients with new binaural hearing aids and provided free otoscopy, cerumen management, audiograms, hearing aids clean-and-checks, hearing aid reprogramming when necessary, and ear mold impressions! It was a busy two days, but our members loved being able to provide these services to those in need.
