University of Pittsburgh Welcomes Incoming First Year AuD Students Among Other Exciting Activities
The SAA chapter at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt SAA) has been having a great fall semester! SAA members welcomed the incoming first-year students with the annual Welcome Back BBQ, where students and faculty had an afternoon of food and fun. Later on in September, the Class of 2021 received their white coats at the White Coat Ceremony. Pitt SAA had a great ceremony planned with keynote speaker, past AAA president, Ian Windmill, PhD.
Pitt SAA has been incredibly active in the community. Members volunteered at community health events, where they handed out hearing protection, shared audiologic information, and provided hearing screenings. Pitt SAA participated in our own "Ask Me About Audiology" Campaign, where members handed out earplugh ahead of the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey game.
In November, Pitt SAA teamed up with undergraduate organization, NSSLHA, to volunteer at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event in Pittsburgh. Members enjoyed volunteering for this event because of the relevance of Alzheimer’s disease. Pitt SAA loved cheering on the teams at the end of the walk and will enjoy volunteering next year!
Pitt SAA also revealed its first edition of their biannual newsletter! This newsletter can be found on their Facebook page.
