The Northern Illinois University (NIU) SAA Chapter was proud to host our annual Hustle for Hearing 5K Run/Walk on September 21,2019! We raised over $2,200 for Hear the Cheers, a local organization whose mission is to provide hearing aids and assistive listening devices to children who are not otherwise able to afford them. Donations were raised through local businesses, family, friends, community members, and a great raffle at the event!
Despite the poor weather conditions, we were joined by over 70 NIU students, faculty members, and administrators, as well as members of the surrounding DeKalb and Chicago areas. We were also accompanied by a few individuals that have been directly or indirectly affected by the effects of hearing loss.
