Why are you interested in joining the national SAA Board of Directors?

I am interested in being on the SAA Board of Directors because I truly have a passion for audiology and the development of upcoming professions in our field. I believe that audiology students should be well educated and equipped to join and contribute to the profession, which the SAA Board of Directors directly influences. I hope to gain new insights to the field and the students that inspire the next steps, and additionally be able to contribute to their experiences and knowledge within the community. I also value a mentorship opportunity, which the SAA Board of Directors advertises as an opportunity to take part in.

If you could change one thing about the profession of audiology, what would it be?

I think I would change the fact that the profession has been viewed as second to many other practitioners and medical professionals because it undervalues the ability of our community to make waves in the modern health-care industry. I do believe that we are now taking strides as a profession to reverse the trend, which is so inspiring as a future clinician. I look forward to the steps that we will be able to take as a profession moving forward, especially in the realm of reimbursement and financial independence.
