The Northeast Ohio AuD Consortium hosted its annual Band Together event on August 18! The event is for the University of Akron’s marching band members. Our SAA puts together a presentation on the importance of hearing protection and noise exposure. Band members are encouraged to play instruments during the presentation and the noise level in the auditorium is recorded as a demonstration to show how loud their instruments can be. New band members are given the opportunity to get custom earplugs! Our SAA members take earmold impressions for the students and help with order forms and registration. This has been a successful event for us in the past and continues to be a great way to spread awareness about hearing protection and noise induced hearing loss in our university community!
