The SAA Chapter at University of Louisville (UofL) participates in Kentucky’s Special Olympics Healthy Hearing (SOHH) screenings annually. This October, UofL faculty and SAA chapter members screened hearing for over 170 athletes at Kentucky’s Special Olympics MedFest. Athletes rotated through two to four stations where students conducted otoscopy, otoacoustic emissions screening, tympanometry, and pure tone screening. Held at Cardinal Stadium, everyone was able to enjoy an incredible view of the football stadium from the press boxes throughout the event! Additionally, chapter members participated in the SOHH screening at State Summer Games in Richmond, KY this past June.
We love joining the SOHH program each year and encourage other chapters to contact their state’s Healthy Hearing Clinical Directors to get involved! You can also check out the SAA website for more details on getting involved!
