Why are you interested in joining the national SAA Board of Directors?
I have always been one who loves to use my gifts and talents to help. Regardless of what place I am in; I always want to make sure I support as best as I can. By being a part of the board, I believe it would be a great opportunity to make lasting connections with my future coworkers. I would also love to be able to help other student audiologists in whatever way that I can. I hope to gain insight, and witness other people’s perspectives on how I can be a better clinician for my future patients.
If you could change one thing about the profession of audiology, what would it be?
There really isn’t much that I would want to change. The only thing that comes to my mind, would be creating a more diverse and inclusive environment for different races and cultures. Being a male and biracial, I have noticed that in this field that I am a minority and that sometimes it is a little hard to communicate and relate with others in this field. I also think for our patients, they would feel a little more at ease and less on edge when they see someone with the same culture as them.
