Ashley Phillips is a mother of two and a non-traditional, fourth-year student at Northeast Ohio Audiology Consortium (NOAC). She received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Toledo and obtained her Master’s degree from Columbia University in New York City in Deaf Education. Prior to attending the NOAC program, her career as a Deaf educator and working with individuals with hearing loss began in New Jersey as an Early Intervention Specialist and contract Teacher of the Deaf. In September 2017, Ashley began servicing students within Columbus City School district in Columbus, Ohio, her first year as a preschool intervention specialist classroom teacher and then four years as an itinerant Teacher of the Deaf. She still holds a PK-12 hearing impairment Intervention Specialist license in the state of Ohio.
She is currently completing her externship at Heuser Hearing Institute in Louisville, Kentucky. Ashley has been an active volunteer with the national Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) since 2022 in both the students with hearing loss subcommittee and the member relations committee. She also served the last two years as the Diversity and Inclusion chair for her local SAA chapter. Ashley’s interests include pediatrics, implantable devices, vestibular assessment and rehabilitation. During her free time she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, staying active and finding fun events around the city for her and her children to attend. Ashley is extremely honored to step into this new role and excited to be planning the national SAA conference and other programming conference opportunities for students this upcoming year.
