Haley Matthias

Haley Matthias is a second-year Doctor of Audiology Student at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Haley decided to pursue her Doctorate of Audiology after completing her undergraduate education at Indiana University-Bloomington majoring in Epidemiology where she conducted research about opioid abuse and overdose. When learning about ototoxicity and the affect which medications can have on our hearing abilities, she began to discover the world of audiology and jumped into all of the research there was to find. Since completing her first year at Ball State, she has begun to focus on the pediatric population and also evaluation of Auditory Processing Disorders.

Haley joined the SAA Board of Directors because she wanted to be a part of something bigger than herself. She wants to learn about audiology from others around the country and also educate and showcase the field of Audiology to others. She is very excited to be the Communications Committee Chair for the 2021-2022 term as she is passionate about the use of social media and the Internet as a way of learning and educating others.

When Haley is not studying or reading, she can be found hanging out with her pup Frank, hiking with friends, or binge-watching reality tv.
