Why are you interested in joining the national SAA Board of Directors?

I have truly enjoyed the time that I have spent volunteering for national SAA thus far and I love being in leadership roles. I believe that being on the BOD is the next natural step for growing my skills as a student and as an audiologist. I would also love to continue gaining leadership experience because I would love to be in leadership roles throughout my career. I also love the networking experiences that volunteering allows for students. I would love to continue to facilitate networking experiences.

If you could change one thing about the profession of audiology, what would it be?

One thing that I would change is creating a space where we have more diversity and a space where people feel like they belong. Audiology has come a long way, but we have a long way to go. I believe that creating more diverse workplaces will help create a place where our colleagues and patients feel like they belong. Another thing along these lines is creating spaces where the Deaf community feels like they can come to see an audiologist without them feeling like we are threatening their community. I would also love to see environments where we are focused on the patients and their needs/belonging.
