The Northeast Ohio AuD Consortium (NOAC) has been busy advocating for our profession and the advancement of audiology! On February 12, 2020 students from NOAC, along with the four other Ohio SAA chapters, participated in National Day at Your State Capital (NDAYSC) in Columbus, OH. Students met with senators and their aids to discuss bills impacting audiology. A bill of critical importance, HB 243, was discussed. This would require private insurance companies to cover the costs of hearing aids for individuals up to 21 years of age. Just a week later, on February 20 and 21, students from NOAC went to Washington D.C. to meet with various members of Congress to discuss other federal legislation that has an impact on audiology. Students heavily advocated for the passing of The Medicare Audiology Access and Services Act of 2019.
