It’s finally January, which means it is a new year for new opportunities, new funding avenues, new volunteer chances, and new resolutions to take care of yourself. Where do you even start to look for these resources?
Well, for starters, the American Academy of Audiology Foundation is a wonderful place to start your search for student scholarships. The Foundation updates its scholarship applications every few months and now is the perfect time to start your search and keep tabs on deadlines! The SAA is excited to announce a new universal scholarship application portal to make it easier for students to apply for multiple scholarships at a time. To learn more, check out this month’s Advisor’s Corner.
If one of your new year’s resolutions is to get more involved in SAA initiatives, the 2022-2023 Volunteer Reserve is open year-round. Though the portal is now closed, consider applying now to be considered for a future appointment on a national SAA committee or subcommittee once a volunteer opportunity becomes available.
In addition, National SAA is proud to introduce the new opportunity to become a micro-volunteer. As a micro-volunteer, you will be able to contribute to small, time-specific tasks that make up a larger project with lasting contributions.
Finally, you may have decided that this is your year to focus on mental health and make self-care a priority. But how do you even know where to look for resources to start this prioritization? I highly encourage you to check out this blog post that provides tips on how to practice healthy study habits, create routines, and (one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions) exercise.
Two thousand twenty-three (2023) is going to be an amazing year filled with new ways to make yourself a priority, whether that be by improving your financial situation with a new scholarship, exploring new opportunities to get involved through volunteering, or focusing on your mental health. Cheers to the new year everyone!
