Florida State University
Florida State University (FSU) Undergraduate SAA Chapter has been very busy this semester. Professor Dr. Snowden has chosen ten seniors in the communication sciences and disorders program and members of SAA to travel to Guatemala in March for the Help Guatemala Hear Mission Trip. This semester, SAA has organized many fundraisers to raise money for the students’ expenses for the trip and to help assist in sending children in Guatemala to school! One of the most successful fundraisers has been our coffee and breakfast table set-up in the FSU Speech and Hearing Clinic. The stand allows the clinicians, students, staff, and clients to have their morning coffee and yummy breakfast while supporting a great cause!
In addition to fundraisers, FSU SAA participated in Audiology Awareness Month this October! We set up a table on Landis Green, a hot spot for students going to and from class, to pass out goodie bags encouraging students to “not be a dum-dum, be a smartie and wear hearing protection” with Dum-Dum lollipops, Smarties candy, and hearing protection! We were able to be involved on campus and catch the interest of many FSU students!
