Shannon is the Public Outreach chair and is now a second-year student at A.T. Still. Prior to being elected to the SAA Board of Directors as a first year, she advocated for underserved communities during her time as the coordinator of the intern team at the United Nations Association San Diego chapter and as a pageant titleholder. During her first year, she was also SAA’s Arizona ambassador and A.T. Still’s Audiology ambassador. This made her want to continue to pursue advocating for those who may not have a voice.
She is ArSHA’s 2021 Outstanding Graduate Student scholarship recipient and during her time as their A.T. Still representative, she enjoyed sharing about advocacy and education. She hopes to have her future private practice by La Jolla beach in California. She wants to offer hearing aid and tinnitus services plus a pro bono fund for low-income patients.
She believes that communication is essential and that we are never truly alone. In sharing our thoughts, we hear words of comfort. One quote that has helped her stay resilient through difficult times was that “even after the darkest nights, even after the strongest storms- the sun will rise again.”
