Grants and Scholarships

The SAA/AAA Foundation offers numerous educational opportunities for graduate students and SAA chapters. Please see below for a full listing of all funding opportunities available. Applications will be made closer to due dates listed with each opportunity.

Individual Scholarships

ARC Scholarship This scholarship provides complimentary registration for the annual ​ARC Conference held the first day of the AAA Conference. More information for ARC 2020 will be made available in the fall.

Continued Achievement Scholarship This $2,000 scholarship is awarded to two (2) students who show exceptional promise in providing outstanding patient care as a clinical audiologist. Underwritten by AudiologyOnline.

Empowering Students Scholarship This $5,000 scholarship is awarded to five (5) students who show exceptional promise as a clinical audiologist. Underwritten by Oticon, Inc. 

Judith Blumsack Scholarship This $500 scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates outstanding clinical skills and who shows promise in terms of clinical research and service to the hearing health community.

Sadanand Singh Memorial Scholarship This $500 scholarship is awarded to one minority or international student who shows exceptional promise in audiology research.

SAA Student Leader Scholarship This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student who shows exceptional leadership in service to the profession of audiology. Applications are now being accepted for 2019; deadline is Tuesday, October 1.

Student Travel Award Reimbursement (STAR) Program The STAR program offers outstanding audiology graduate students funding of up to $500 to attend meetings in the hearing sciences (as well as other sciences relating to student coursework). Applications are due January 1 and September 1 annually. Applications are now being accepted for the September 1 deadline.

SAA Chapter Grants

SAA Special Olympics Healthy Hearing (SOHH) Chapter Participation Grants University SAA chapters participating in local, regional, and/or state SOHH events are encouraged to apply for these grants of up to $250.00 to offset travel costs. Applications are due February 1 annually.

SAA Humanitarian, Educational, and Awareness Resources (HEAR) Chapter Grant This grant of up to $1,000 is to fund the development of a SAA chapter project that is either a new project or for the refinement of an existing project. The project must be either Humanitarian in nature, Educational in nature, or related to the Awareness of audiology. Applications are due February 1 and October 1 annually.

Research Grants and Awards

James Jerger Awards for Excellence in Student Research Each year, six students who display their research posters at the AAA Conference receive a $500 or $300 award from the Foundation for outstanding research. For more information and to apply, visit the AAA Conference website.

Research Grants in Hearing and Balance The AAA Foundation annually awards approximately $30,000 to student and new investigator researchers through the Academy’s Research Grants in Hearing and Balance Program. Applications are due at the beginning of October each year. For more information and to apply, visit the Academy’s website.

Student Research Forum Awards Each year, five recipients present their research findings at the AAA Annual Conference and receive a $500 award from the Foundation. For more information and to apply, visit the AAA Conference website. Underwritten by Plural Publishing.
