Are you an undergraduate student interested in hearing science, healthcare, communication disorders, or exploring a future career in audiology? The national Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) is the perfect place to start. No matter your major you’re invited to be part of a community that’s passionate about helping others communicate and connect.

What Is the National SAA?

The SAA is the national student organization of the American Academy of Audiology. Local university chapters bring students together to learn about the profession, volunteer in the community, build leadership skills, and connect with peers who share similar interests.

Joining your university’s SAA chapter gives you opportunities to:

  • Explore audiology as a career
  • Meet graduate students and professionals
  • Participate in hearing‑health outreach
  • Build your resume for graduate school
  • Make friends who care about communication and healthcare

What You Can Do as an Undergraduate Member

Your university’s SAA chapter may offer:

Leadership Opportunities

Many chapters appoint an Undergraduate Liaison, a student leader who helps connect undergrads with events, meetings, and volunteer opportunities.

Resume & Graduate School Support

Chapters often host resume workshops or connect you with national resources like the American Academy of Audiology’s Resume Review Service.

Community Outreach

Help organize hearing screenings, volunteer at local events, or participate in awareness campaigns about hearing and balance disorders.

Educational Events

Attend guest lectures, workshops, and hands‑on demonstrations to learn more about the field.

The national SAA offers online webinars on a wide variety of topics including different audiology work settings such as pediatrics and educational audiology.

National Resources Just for Students

As an undergraduate, you can also access national SAA opportunities:

These resources help you learn more about audiology, connect with students across the country, and grow your professional network.
