The Northern Illinois University (NIU) SAA was proud to host our annual Hustle for Hearing 5k this past September. We raised over $2100 for Hear the Cheers, a local organization whose mission is to provide hearing aids and assistive listening devices to children who are not otherwise able to afford them. This year’s 5k was extra fun as we were joined by the founders of Hear the Cheers, who personally thanked the participants in the event, as well as shared a little bit more about what the organization does.
We were joined by NIU students and faculty, as well as members of the surrounding DeKalb and Chicago areas. We were also accompanied by a few families that have benefited from Hear the Cheers.
