Student Academy of Audiology Blog Acceptance of Terms and Requirements
The Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) Blog is the official blog of the Student Academy of Audiology. The SAA Blog is intended to act as a forum of discussion and community for students of audiology. These requirements govern your participation as a Student Academy of Audiology blogger. The American Academy of Audiology Terms of Use and Privacy Statement are incorporated by reference. If a conflict exists between those documents and these Requirements, these Requirements shall take precedence.
Before Blogging
You certify that you are eighteen years of age or older. You represent that you have informed your current school of your intention to blog about your audiology and/or externship experience. Further, you understand that the Student Academy of Audiology reserves the right to notify your school of your participation, if appropriate. You understand and agree that you are wholly responsible for complying with your school’s academic handbook and rules regarding public discussion, including blogging, about classroom and clinic activities and content, and that the Student Academy of Audiology bears no responsibility in ensuring that the content of this blog complies with those policies. You understand and agree that the Student Academy of Audiology may cease your participation with this blog at any time. The Student Academy of Audiology requests you give advance notice if you intend to cease participation with this blog so other bloggers may be found to take your place.
Drafting and Editing Blog Posts
You represent that you hold all original copyrights to the materials submitted, or have obtained written permission from the copyright owner to make these materials available via a publicly accessible website, such as www.saa.audiology.org. In addition, if your submission contains a reference or image of a person other than you, you represent that you have obtained permission of such person to include his/her information in the submission. Any use of your previously published work must be disclosed to the Student Academy of Audiology Communications Committee, Board of Directors, and staff and its inclusion is at their sole discretion. You agree to not write anything that may be intentionally damaging, untrue, or misleading about the Student Academy of Audiology, your school/program, or other schools, people, or businesses. You agree to not use the blog to promote or endorse commercial products or services for which you will be compensated. You agree to obtain and provide the Student Academy of Audiology signed photographic releases to use photos of others on the blog, prior to submitting the photo.
You understand that submitting materials to the Student Academy of Audiology does not guarantee that the materials will be reviewed, accepted, or published. Further, you understand and agree that the Student Academy of Audiology may edit or rewrite your blog(s) for grammar, punctuation, style, or length. You understand and agree that the Student Academy of Audiology reserves the right to edit or remove any statements or photographs that are in violation of patient privacy (HIPAA) or personal privacy, unnecessarily graphic, vulgar or profane, defamatory, threatening, illegal, promotes unethical or dangerous behavior or practices, plagiarized, or are culturally or racially inappropriate or insensitive, or politically inflammatory.
Republishing
You agree to credit and link to the SAA Blog if you republish your blog post, in whole or in part and in any format. Further, if you distribute your blog in print, it must clearly be identified as an excerpt from the SAA Blog.
Intellectual Property Grant
To the extent permission under applicable law, you hereby grant the Student Academy of Audiology a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty free right to display, reproduce, disseminate, adapt, modify, annotate, archive, and otherwise use your submitted materials for any purpose determined by the Student Academy of Audiology, including promotions and advertising. This grant extends to all traditional, digital, and electronic media. Further, you grant the Student Academy of Audiology the right to associate your name, image, and biographical data in connection with your submitted content.
Furthermore…
You release and forever discharge the Student Academy of Audiology, its agents, officers, and employees from any and all claims and demands arising out of or in connection with the use of the submission, including but not limited to, any claims for invasion of privacy or defamation. If a provision of these Terms is or becomes invalid or unenforceable in any jurisdiction that shall not affect the validity or enforceability in another jurisdiction or any other provision of these Terms.
