The SAA Chapter at The Ohio State University sponsored participation costs for six patients with hearing loss and their primary communication partners to participate in the 2018 Summer Intensive Auditory Revitalization Conference (SIARC). SIARC is an interactive aural rehabilitation program where patients engage with students to learn about hearing loss and methods to empower patients and their partners to improve communication. SAA members served as student partners to each of the couples for three days. The students taught their participants about hearing loss, communication strategies, psychosocial aspects of hearing loss, provided information about ADA and ALDs, and experimented with technology in real-world situations. Students and participants had a blast while on the tour of The Ohio State Football Stadium!
